# EcoShade > AI-powered precision agriculture intelligence platform. Free crop health analysis, carbon tracking, and smart farming tools for every farmer. Founded in Tbilisi, Georgia. Supported by FAO and UNDP. ## About EcoShade EcoShade is a precision agriculture platform that uses AI and satellite data to help farmers grow smarter. The platform is completely free for farmers and generates revenue through B2B partnerships with agri-supply companies, carbon credit buyers, and insurance providers. EcoShade was born from a personal reality. Our founder grew up on a family farm in Georgia, where every season brought new risks — frost, disease, drought — and no affordable expert to consult. Agriculture employs 40% of Georgia's workforce but contributes only 5–8% of GDP. Nearly 80% of farms are under one hectare, too small to afford agronomists, insurance, or experimentation. Today, EcoShade integrates regenerative, carbon-positive, and soil-restoring practices directly into everyday agronomy. Farmers don't need to abandon familiar methods — they learn new approaches gradually. We're headquartered in Tbilisi, Georgia, with active pilots and strategic expansion into Germany, France, Poland, and Uzbekistan. ### Mission Building the virtual agronomist every farmer deserves. EcoShade leverages AI and computer vision to deliver instant, personalized guidance on soil health, climate stress, plant growth, nutrition, water balance, pests, diseases, and yield — covering everything a real agronomist would. And it's free for farmers, forever. ### Values - **Free for Farmers**: Core platform access is permanently free for farmers. No trials, no tiers, no paywalls on features that matter. - **Safety First**: 7 hardcoded safety rules that no AI, user, or config can override. Every recommendation is filtered before it reaches you. - **Teach, Don't Just Tell**: Every recommendation explains why — not just what to do. We build farmer knowledge so they can make independent decisions. - **Climate Positive**: Regenerative and carbon-positive practices are woven into everyday advice. Sustainability isn't an add-on — it's the default. ### Team - **Natia Ramishvili** — Founder & CEO. The block list is sourced from the EU Pesticide Database and refreshed monthly. If the underlying AI proposed a banned chemical it is hard-deleted before reaching the user — the recommendation never surfaces, even at low confidence. This rule cannot be disabled, by any user, role, or configuration flag. ### SR-002 — Dosage Cap Caps any dose at the legal maximum for the crop, region, and active ingredient. If the AI suggested a dose above the cap, the recommendation is rewritten down to the legal max and tagged with an automatic warning. The original (overdose) suggestion is logged for the audit trail but is never displayed. This prevents a hallucinated unit conversion or label misread from ever reaching the sprayer. ### SR-003 — PHI Violation Blocks recommendations whose Pre-Harvest Interval would extend past the plant's expected harvest date. The plant's growth stage and projected harvest date are computed from your registered plant data and any updates you've logged. If applying the treatment today would mean the chemical is still active at harvest, the recommendation is hidden entirely. SR-003 is the single most-triggered safety rule across our platform. ### SR-004 — REI Warning Attaches Re-Entry Interval information to every chemical treatment. Unlike PHI, REI is a worker-safety rule: how many hours after application before a person can safely re-enter the field. The interval is shown both in the spray scheduler and on the treatment confirmation step. Workers are also asked to confirm the field will be closed for the interval before the treatment is logged. ### SR-005 — Flowering Stage Blocks neonicotinoids and systemic insecticides during the flowering window to protect pollinators. The flowering window is computed from the plant's species, registered planting date, and current growth stage observations. If a recommendation would put a bee-toxic chemical into a flowering field, the recommendation is hidden and the user is offered a non-systemic alternative. SR-005 is one of the few rules whose business logic was reviewed by an external entomologist. ### SR-006 — Organic Filter Hides every non-organic-certified product if the farm's preference is set to organic. The certification source list includes OMRI, EU organic, USDA Organic, and Demeter (for biodynamic). If only synthetic options exist, the user is shown an explanation rather than a recommendation — we never silently fall back to non-organic. SR-006 is the only safety rule that the user can configure (by changing the farm's organic flag). ### SR-007 — Banned Region Removes products that are banned in your country even when they appear on the broader EU-approved list. The country list is keyed off your farm's registered country code, and the rule consults a per-country override database (currently 38 country codes). This catches cases where an EU-wide approval has been overridden by a member state. If you move a farm to a new country, the rule re-evaluates every existing recommendation. --- ## Blog Articles ### Precision Agriculture for Beginners: Your Complete 2026 Guide By EcoShade Team, Product · Published March 10, 2026 · Updated March 28, 2026 URL: https://ecoshade.org/blog/precision-agriculture-getting-started Everything you need to know about precision agriculture: what it is, how it works, what tools you need, and how EcoShade makes it accessible for small farmers. ### Carbon Credits for Small Farms in Europe: How to Get Started By Anastasia Kapanadze, Co-Founder & COO · Published February 20, 2026 · Updated March 25, 2026 URL: https://ecoshade.org/blog/carbon-credits-for-small-farms A practical guide for European small farmers to understand, measure, and monetize carbon sequestration through voluntary carbon markets and EcoShade's tracking tools. ### Organic Pest Management: A Complete Guide for Small Farms By Miranda Shengelia, Lead Agronomist · Published January 10, 2026 · Updated March 1, 2026 URL: https://ecoshade.org/blog/organic-pest-management-guide Comprehensive guide to organic pest management strategies including biological controls, companion planting, and IPM techniques approved for organic certification. ### NDVI Satellite Imaging Explained for Farmers: A Beginner's Guide By EcoShade Team, Engineering · Published December 1, 2025 · Updated February 15, 2026 URL: https://ecoshade.org/blog/ndvi-satellite-imaging-explained Understand what NDVI is, how satellite imaging works for agriculture, and how EcoShade uses Sentinel-2 data to monitor your farm's vegetation health. ### How to Detect Powdery Mildew on Grape Vines: Visual Guide By Miranda Shengelia, Lead Agronomist · Published November 15, 2025 · Updated March 20, 2026 URL: https://ecoshade.org/blog/how-to-detect-powdery-mildew Learn to identify powdery mildew early on grape vines using visual symptoms, AI-assisted scanning, and preventive measures.
